    Open Clinical and Non-Clinical Roles

    Job Purpose

    The Gastrointestinal Surgeon and Endoscopist will lead the diagnosis, surgical treatment, and endoscopic management of complex gastrointestinal diseases. The role encompasses the management of GI conditions affecting the oesophagus, stomach, intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, and biliary system, including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and GI bleeding.

    The role holder will combine clinical excellence in surgical and endoscopic procedures with leadership and strategic development of the GI services. This includes participating in multidisciplinary care pathways, promoting best practices, and mentoring future clinical leaders.

    Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

    Clinical and Surgical Practice

    ·        Perform a wide range of GI surgeries, including minimally invasive, laparoscopic, and open procedures.

    ·        Conduct advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and upper GI endoscopy.

    ·        Manage patients across all stages of the surgical journey—preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care.

    ·        Deliver expert consultations on complex GI conditions for internal and referred cases.

    ·        Lead multidisciplinary case reviews, particularly GI cancer pathways.

    Leadership and Team Development

    ·        Lead a multidisciplinary team including surgeons, gastroenterologists, anaesthetists, endoscopy nurses, and allied health professionals.

    ·        Mentor junior doctors, surgical trainees, and medical students in clinical, surgical, and procedural skills.

    ·        Develop protocols and guidelines to support evidence-based GI surgery and endoscopy practices.

    ·        Promote a culture of safety, innovation, and excellence across surgical teams.

    Strategic and Service Development

    ·        Design and implement strategies to expand the scope and efficiency of GI services.

    ·        Collaborate with senior leadership to align surgical services with AMCE’s long-term objectives.

    Governance, Quality, and Compliance

    ·        Ensure all surgical and endoscopic practices comply with local and international regulatory standards.

    ·        Participate in hospital governance committees and risk management planning.

    ·        Develop frameworks for clinical safety and outcome monitoring.

    Organizational Responsibilities

    ·        Report directly to the Clinical Director of General Medical & Surgical Services.

    ·        Represent the GI department in strategic initiatives and hospital-wide projects.

    ·        Participate in national and international conferences and networks to promote AMCE’s services and innovations.

    Qualifications

    ·        Medical degree (MBBS, MD, DO or equivalent) from an accredited institution

    ·        Completion of residency/fellowship in General or Gastrointestinal Surgery

    ·        Board certification or eligibility in General or GI Surgery from a recognized body

    ·        Valid medical license in home country and eligibility for MDCN registration

    ·        Certification in advanced endoscopic techniques

    Experience

    ·        Minimum 5 years’ experience post-consultant appointment in GI surgery.

    ·        Expertise in open, laparoscopic, and advanced endoscopic GI procedures.

    Job Purpose

    Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

    Clinical Practice

    ·        Independently manage a wide range of urological cases, including elective and emergency care.

    ·        Perform diagnostic and therapeutic cystoscopy, tumour resections, and stone extractions.

    ·        Conduct minimally invasive and open urological procedures, including robotic-assisted surgeries.

    Qualifications

    Job Purpose

    The Consultant, Interventional Cardiologist will provide the highest standard of clinical care in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of patients with cardiovascular disease, particularly those requiring interventional procedures. The consultant will perform catheter-based interventions including diagnostic right and left heart catheterizations, angioplasty including primary PCI, and structural heart disease procedures such as ASD, VSD closures, TAVI, and Mitral Clip procedures.

    The role holder will also play a central role in strategic development, quality improvement, research, and education within the department.

    Clinical Leadership and Radiotherapy Services

    ·         Provide expert consultation, diagnosis, and management for patients requiring radiotherapy.

    ·        Develop, prescribe, and oversee complex radiotherapy treatment plans using advanced technologies (e.g., IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, SRS).

    ·        Ensure accurate and timely delivery of radiation treatments, monitoring patient response and managing side effects.

    Oncology Medication Management

     

    ·        Dispense and verify chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive care medications.

    ·        Ensure strict compliance with national radiation safety regulations, international standards and hospital clinical governance policies.

    ·        Track and contribute to improvements in treatment planning turnaround times, reporting standards, and patient through-put efficiency.

    Research and Innovation

    ·        Engage in clinical research and audit projects, supporting the department’s innovation agenda and contributing to the evidence base in radiation oncology.

    ·        Present research findings at local, regional, and international conferences and seek publication in peer-reviewed journals.

    ·        Assist in the evaluation and adoption of new radiotherapy techniques, technologies, and clinical protocols to enhance treatment efficacy and patient experience.

    Emergency and On-Call Responsibilities

    ·        Participate in the departmental on-call rota, providing expert advice and urgent clinical review for patients presenting with acute radiation-related emergencies, spinal cord compression, superior vena cava obstruction, or uncontrolled symptoms.

    ·        Liaise with emergency department, intensive care, and palliative care teams to ensure rapid assessment and appropriate management of oncology emergencies.

    ·        Provide timely verbal and written reports for urgent cases requiring immediate clinical decision-making.

    Administrative and Professional Duties

    ·        Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and timely electronic medical records in accordance with legal, regulatory, and professional standards.

    ·        Contribute to the orientation, induction, and ongoing professional development of new medical staff and trainees within the radiotherapy service.

    ·        Participate in departmental meetings, strategic planning discussions, and service development initiatives as required.

    ·        Demonstrate commitment to ethical practice, clinical governance, and continuous professional development.

    ·        Provide rapid reporting and liaise with ER/ICU teams in urgent cases.



    Qualifications

    ·        Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) from a recognised institution.

    ·        Enrolment in, or completion of, an accredited residency in Oncology with significant experience in Radiotherapy.

    ·        Completion of basic specialty training in Clinical Oncology or Radiation Oncology.

    ·        Certification in radiation safety, basic life support (BLS), and advanced communication skills is an advantage.

    ·        Valid medical license and registration in Oncology (local or eligible to obtain).

     

    Experience

    ·        Minimum of 3–5 years of post-MBBS clinical experience, with at least 2 years in Radiation Oncology or Clinical Oncology.

    ·        Passed Part 1 or Part 2 of recognized Fellowship/Board exams (WACS, NPMCN, or equivalent).

    ·        Demonstrated competency in the planning and delivery of external beam radiotherapy, including 3D-CRT, IMRT, VMAT, and image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT).

    ·        Proven experience in target volume contouring and the use of modern radiotherapy planning systems.

    ·        Experience with stereotactic radiotherapy (SBRT/SRS), brachytherapy, and paediatric radiotherapy is highly desirable.

    ·        Proficiency with electronic medical records, oncology information systems, and record-and-verify systems (e.g., ARIA, Mosaiq).

    ·        Strong clinical knowledge across major disease sites, including head and neck, thoracic, breast, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, gynaecological, and central nervous system malignancies.

    ·        Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary team (MDT) settings and complex clinical decision-making.

    ·        Commitment to ethical practice, patient safety, and continuous professional development.
